Should British Schoolchildren learn another language? – Language EU

Should British Schoolchildren learn another language?

Before you dismiss this question and say but they do learn languages such as Spanish, French and German, we must ask you how many British children can speak it fluently?

It’s always quite astonishing to travel and see young children in Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia speaking very good English when you think back to children of the same age in the UK who can only say hello in French, Spanish and German. The comparisons can be quite embarrassing, but we shouldn’t draw on them too much, after all we’re fortunate enough to know the main language of the world, for goodness sake we created it, however, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t respect other languages and cultures, and you may call us biased here but we believe private and public schools in the UK should put more emphasis on learning a second language. What are your thoughts on this subject?
