Inscriptions are typically markings of words on coins and stone in various forms. Some of the earliest Latin inscriptions were details of ownership, custody and locations of various items.
Literature
There are several hundred ancient authors who wrote in the ancient language. Their works come under the field of Classics. The study of Classics, and the ancient works that were enjoyed at the time have helped to retain interest in the language.
Linguistics
Latin has deeply influenced the development of the English language over time. Many English words have adapted from Latin origins.
